The Hope and Dream

Entangled in this web
we reach out to a dream
that we fear is unattainable.
Grappling with reasons unknown
as doubt flogs the mind numb
and breaks down the walls of the heart.
An image of hope so faint
like a mirage in the desert
that tears away each struggled step.
Insistent reminders of this hope
dash before tear filled eyes
giving strength to continue on.
The hope and dream is at hand
to be had by the victors
if only we reach to grasp them.
Because with this victory we obtain
the peace we have sought after
and the richness of love only to be dreamed.

Rescue Me

What is this fear, this great unknown?
Why do these nightmares haunt me, even when I'm awake?
Why do you allow me to picture these painful things?
What sets my mind to worry about tomorrow?
Why don't you put my mind at peace and rest?
What are these feelings I struggle with?
Anger? Rage? Sadness? Confusion? Despair? Worry? Doubt?
You have the power to put my mind to ease
and replace these things that destroy my heart
with Hope, Love, Compassion, Understanding, Joy, Happiness, Peace.
I beg of you, let there be hope I can see and know.
Let me see your love as I once did.
Fill my heart with the compassion that is lost.
Give me an understanding for that which is not known,
for my mind feels deceived and my heart betrayed.
Let joy abound more than it ever has.
Let happiness fill each of my steps and bring a smile to my face.
Let me finally be at peace so I may glorify the Lord.
I can't continue on bogged with doubt as fog
would cloak jagged rocks from view of passing ships.
As a sinking ship cut by reefs, so too my life passes,
sinking in the night, alone and without rescue.

His pain unbearable
brought upon by His love.
Each passing moment
filled with unspeakable heartache
as His love betrayed Him
in every imaginable way.
His love professed only
caused His torment to increase
and as He breathed His last
His love began to fall to her knees.

Waves gently crashing against the shore,
the silent sunset speaks words so soft,
how can Your splendor be ignored?
Your breath of life is all around.
Your hands have touched each piece of sand,
yet people question Your very existence.
Focused on self, Succeeding for self, only self aware.
Each blade of grass alive in the cool breeze
while birds above taken to flight in sudden gusts.
How can Your splendor be ignored?
Escaping memories of the past I come here.
I feel Your peace, tranquility abounds.
The pain of yesterdays are fading,
and I breathe in each new moment Your promise brings.
Calling out to You - Take me home.
How long before the Shepard is King?
How long before Your bride is united with You?
How long must we wait before You call us home?
Open the sky and bring us to Your waiting arms.
Patiently I will wait expecting Your call.
Focused I will be on the example You've given.
And I will live my life in Your name.
